JackTheRipper – the ultimate fart app for Windows Mobile

JackTheRipper
When it comes to farting apps, you never find a shortage no matter what OS you’re running. Some are better than others; fortunately, for Windows Mobile, there’s a new kid on the block that is simply the best. JackTheRipper, brought to us by Herm’s Software, is the latest installment in the fart app category.
What sets JackTheRipper apart from all the other fart applications? A rich UI, what seems to be an endless amount of fart sounds and some extended functions that you won’t find in other fart apps. After starting JackTheRipper, you will immediately notice the nice, soft graphics. The big text and buttons make the app easy to read and navigate. Nice looking apps are always welcomed, but the most important part of a fart app is, of course, the number of sounds available and the quality of those sounds.
To select a fart, simply scroll down the list, choose one that sounds interesting and then press play. There are over 40 sounds and a random sound option to choose from, so there’s a fair amount of flatulence sound differentiation. Just by looking at some of the names, “Dale Earnfart” and “Trumpeteer” for example, you’ll crack a smile or even start laughing. With fart apps, it’s hard to capture the true essence of a fart sound, but JackTheRipper has some real winners. There are some that are questionable, but enough good ones to keep you content.

Sneak Attack
Extended functions in fart apps are hard to come by, but Herm’s Software has set a new standard. Besides playing a fart manually, you can set a “sneak attack.” This is a timed fart (up to 2 min. max) that can be set to repeat. Perhaps the most intriguing function is the security mode. This mode turns your phone into a fart alarm by using your accelerometer. To arm the fart alarm, select a fart and then press the secure button. A countdown will begin which gives you ample time to set it down. Once your phone is moved, a barrage of fart sounds will be played until the play button is pressed. This would be an excellent prank to play on someone.
Finally, the most entertaining parts of this app are the “Fart-A-Piano” and “Fartman Says” games. As you can imagine, a fart piano plays fart sounds instead of traditional piano sounds. There are 9 keys with a range of different fart sounds. The Fartman says game is a reminder of the classic “Simon Says” game we played as children. In this game, you have to follow what fart keys to press. It starts off easy with 2 consecutive keys to follow, but as you progress you have to press more and more consecutive keys. It’s a nice memory challenge game and provides laughs at the same time.

Fart Piano
JackTheRipper is a top notch fart app with over 40 fart sounds, 2 mini-games, a fart timer, and a fart alarm. If you’re a jokester and love comedic software, Jack the Ripper will be a perfect addition to your software collection. At 99 cents, it’s a must have joke app for anyone who has ever thought about installing a fart app on their device.
Screen Support: VGA, WVGA, QVGA, WQVGA, Square
Pros:
- Excellent Graphics for a fart app
- Security Mode
- Mini-games
- Fart timer
- 40+ sounds
- only 99 cents
Cons:
- Scrolling through sounds can be difficult
Possible improvements:
- Would be nice to exclude unwanted sounds from the list
- An option to disarm the alarm by pin code would be great. Pressing play to end the fart barrage is too easy for those we’re trying to humiliate.
