Avatar – a free photo dialer for Windows Mobile
Here is a short review about a great app. A photo dialer called Avatar bought to you by the makers of iContact.
Avatar shows your contacts as a list of images (looking strangely similar to the iPhones homes-creen, but with your contacts instead of apps) which you can look through with the slide of your finger. Scrolling is very smooth and it feels fantastic to use.
It shows the first name of your contacts at the bottom of each picture. It cuts the start and end off if the name goes over 10 letters. It also hides any contacts without images added to them, so to get the full effect of this app, you need to add pictures to all of your contacts.

Clicking on an image will bring up their details as normal, but if you have it installed, their details are bought up through iContact. When you press and hold on an image, it dials their number. This all looks great when you combine Avatar with iContact and iDialer.
To close Avatar, you have to press on the bar along the top. This bar also shows the battery status, sound level (Silent, Vibrate, Loud), the time and also the amount of signal you have, just like iContact.
Note :
If you want it to COMPLETELY close after you exit ( usually it minimizes and runs in the background ), point your registry editor to
HKCU/SOFTWARE/SUPWARE.NET/AVATAR/exitOnMinimize
and change the value from zero (0) to one (1).Kudos to namwollem from xda-devs for the tip
It has an installation size of 68kb, which isn’t going to dent your devices storage, but it delivers quite a lot for such a simple program. It’s also quoted to have a “low memory footprint – only around 100KB on VGA”
To sum up, this is a simple but very effective replacement for the average contacts list. Possibly the easiest way to get through your contacts that I have seen to date. There are other photo dialers available out there, but they aren’t as easy to use and this is the first free one I have seen available. A must have app for anyone, just make sure you give all your contacts pictures.
