Panoramic Soft’s moTweets 1.3.0 – Beauty meets a Beast of a Twitter client
Twitter has blown up over the internet in the past few years and with that we expect mobile versions of the popular social networking service. While there is an excess of Twitter apps available for all mobile platforms, many builds found on Windows Mobile are dull, imperfect, and unimpressive. To be perfectly honest, there are only a few even worth mentioning.
One of the apps worth mentioning, created by Panoramic Soft, is called moTweets. It’s still a relatively new Twitter app, but surprisingly, it has already dominated the scene as of late. What took months for competing Twitter apps to accomplish, moTweets seems to have delivered within one month. We take an in-depth look into the app’s features to see why it’s creating so much buzz.
Panoramic Soft’s moTweets has an aesthetically pleasing interface that will make you feel more than satisfied. The default skin has a soft sky blue color which makes reading the hundreds of tweets each day a piece of cake. The subtle color fades on the top and bottom menu bars add to the general feeling of smoothness as well. Highlighted tweets on the timeline match the overall theme and draw your eyes to that particular tweet, as it should. If, for whatever reason, you aren’t feeling the default skin, you can change it to something more bold like “Raven Black” or “Pigeon Grey.” Friend’s avatars aren’t too big, aren’t too small, they’re just perfect. To compliment the experience on the web, moTweets displays timestamps, so you can keep track of recent tweets. If you have common friends conversing with each other, their tweets will be in bold. That way you can recognize when to interrupt and join in on the fun.

Search Twitter
It’s not all about looks though. How these apps function is extremely important in judging whether to continuously use them or not. The first thing we noticed is how smooth moTweets scrolls through the timeline. Similar apps often have jerky scrolling due to the amount of tweets on screen, but not moTweets. Although unnecessary, it’s great to see that there is a bounceback animation when reaching the end of the line (similar to iPhone apps). Probably one of the most useful tools within the app is the arrow at the bottom of the timeline page. If you’re at the top of the timeline, simply press the down arrow and it’ll automatically start scrolling down in a fluid motion. It works the same way if you’re at the bottom of the page too, only it takes you up instead of down. You would be surprised how easy this makes navigating through tweets.

Main Menu
The interface button layout on moTweets is convenient and unobtrusive. At the bottom, you have an easily accessible refresh soft key and menu soft key. Refreshing the timeline is quick and plays an audio clip of a bird chirping (only if there are tweets to update). At the top you have your avatar, in case you forgot what you look like, and shortcuts to the usual Twitter features (timeline, @mentions, featured, public, inbox, followers/following, search). Also at the top is a shortcut for quick tweeting.

Tweet Options
Clicking on the tweet bubble will take you to another screen that gives you various options. You can add a picture from your camera or device, inserts links (automatically shortened), and also tag your GPS coordinates. Not to mention there is a big text box for entering your tweet, which is accompanied by a letter counter (140 max). The URL simplifier supports bit.ly and tinyurl.com. We found that tweeting was a joy overall and didn’t seem to lag.

Options
Twitter isn’t all about you though, right? Retweets and @replies are also easily accessible in moTweets. All one has to do is double tap on a tweet and a context menu appears. From here you can select RT, reply, private message, favorite, view link or pic (if the tweet provides one), and copy to clipboard. All these options just add to the overall convenience of using the app for Twitter. By the way, if you have multiple accounts, you’re presented with an account selection screen on startup, which we love. Oftentimes, these apps make you dive into multiple menus to switch accounts.
The settings menu gives you some options to help personalize your moTweets experience. You can enables or disable sound and vibration alerts, select refresh intervals (manual, 1 minute, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, 3 hours), pick languages, choose from 3 skins, enlarge the timeline view and more. I should note that you can select how many tweets to display on the timeline (25, 50, 100, 200). Sometimes I just want to detach from the rest of Windows Mobile and use Twitter all day long, so my favorite option is being able to enable or disable fullscreen mode.
Panoramic Soft’s moTweets’ user interface has a lot of eye candy, but it’s also one of the best Twitter apps we’ve come across. The core features of Twitter are all there and you’re able to access them easily. The kinetic scrolling is top notch and not once did I feel any negative feelings towards the app. You’re probably wondering how much all these features and eye candy will cost… I’m happy to report that it’s a low, low $3.99 USD. If you’re still not convinced then try their free version. It contains all the features of the paid app, but is ad-supported. We highly recommend that you purchase the paid version if you enjoy the experience of the free one. It may seem like a small contribution, but it will motivate the moTweets team to add new ideas to their already spectacular app.

I dont think there is an option to send or share tweets to others via E-Mail or SMS from the mobile. I could be wrong as i tried an old version and the facility was not available so i deleted.

I am certainly liking coming back again and again to your posts and it has certainly been a long time since you have had this going.
