DutchTab 1.3 – sharing bills with friends made easy on Windows Phone
Dining out with friends is one of life’s little pleasures nothing stimulates decent conversation better than a delicious meal served with refreshing beverages. The last thing you want to do with a belly full of food is indulge in advanced mathematics to split the bill according to what you ate. If you often find yourself in these situation read on to see how DutchTab from slimCODE can help you ease this process.

DutchTab is a bill splitter and tip calculator in one. The app has a similar UI as the other slimCODE apps and is quite finger friendly with big buttons. The swipe items to the left to delete it gesture is present in this app too. When you fire up the app you are presented with the list of bills ( initially this page is empty ). When you add a new bill you can add a name, date, amount and description for the bill. If the bill is going to be split evenly between the participants you can specify that too. There is an option to add Tax to the bill , I don’t think that is something most of us would be needing on a regular basis and so I didn’t look much in to it.
Once your bill is ready you can add the tip amount to it starting from 0 – 20% in increments of 5. Now you will have to add the participants. You can add them manually or import their details from the address book. You can add individual items for each participants and based on what each participants have paid the app will generate the split bill which will inform the participants how much they have to pay to or collect from the other participants. Most of the time when the bill is split evenly you might not see the use for this app but when there is an an un-even split in the bill that is when this app is really needed. You can share this bill to each partaker, by email or by SMS which is really handy.
Overall this is a handy app and is quite useful coz most of the time someone tends to pay the bill using their credit card and then the others pay them back later. With this app you can quickly generate a report and send it to the other with a few clicks. And for $2.99 this app a low cost app by Windows Mobile App pricing standards. Give the Trial version a go and see if it meets your requirement.

Pros :
- Nice Finger Friendly UI
- Easily Share the report with Participants
- Gives a warning message if the is a problem with the bill amount
Cons :
- No way to cross off the payments that are made
Possible Improvements :
- It would be great if we could cross of payments made from the balance screen
- The email can be in html and in a better format rather than the plain text email that is currently generated
