VolumeX 2.0.0.6 – better way to manage the volume controls on windows phone
Volumex is a fantastic alternative to the default Windows Mobile volume changer. Using big friendly buttons & a nice set of features, is it a must have for any Windows Mobile user ? read on to find out.

When you change the volume on your device using Volumex, you have the option to set these new levels as the “default volume”. If you then change it again, it will ask you how long you want it to wait before re-setting the volume to the default volume. This would be great for when you turn up the volume to play a piece of music to a friend, or show off a game or video and then forget to put it onto silent again.
It also has some Outlook Appointment integration. This is something I didn’t quite expect from something like a simple volume changer. When you make appointments in outlook either on your device or on a computer to be synced across later, you can add whether you want the phone to turn silent, go onto vibrate or turn the volume up to maximum. You do this by simply adding /S /V or /M onto the end of the location field and when that appointment comes about, Volumex will recognize it and change the volume for you. ( 10 seconds after your appointment begins, volume will be set accordingly. After the appointment ends, your default volume will be restored automatically. )
- /v = set to Vibrate
- /s = set to Silent
- /m = set to Maximum volume
The older version of the app did give us some issues when we tried to review it but it looks like those issues are now resolved. The app also supports WM6.0 and up, we ran it on WM6.5.3
Check out the ReadMe for more info on setup and usage instruction. To see Volumex in action, watch the video below.
Tested on : HTC Touch Pro 2
Pros:
- Very finger friendly
- Timer to reset volume back to default
- Bind different actions to the volume up/down keys
- 3 nice looking skins
- Outlook Appointment integration
Cons:
- Fade out looks good, but can get little annoying after a while
- No landscape support
Possible improvements:
- Remove fade out.
- Close “This is your default volume now” screen upon click.

I am ALWAYS in out of class and meetings. Always forget to turn it up or down so therefore I either end up getting embarrassed in a meeting or class or end up missing my calls. This would be a life saver for me!
The developers just got back to us with this message
Cons will be solved soon. I saw a bug with a particular configuration he set and working overnight on it.
