Anuvadak 1.0 – a great Google translator app with text to speech support
There are many translator apps on windows phone but today I came across a great new app that does just about everything that you can do on the Google Translator website. The app Anuvadak developed by chargedRam from xda-developers. According to the developer Anuvadak stands for Translator in Hindi.

Anuvadak
Anuvadak has got a nice UI, when you launch the app you have an option to enable instant translation ( which is an alpha feature , so might throw out some unexpected result ). When this feature is enabled the result is automatically generated and you DON’T have to click on translate. Keep in mind the app uses data and there might be a few seconds delay before the results might come up.
The text area for search is rather small and I was not able to bring up the context menu to copy-paste from this field, hopefully the dev can fix that in future release. Anuvadak offers an easy way to swap the languages and shows the history of all the translations ( when instant translation is not enabled ). Clicking on a translated item brings up some advance options like
- Listen to the translation ( not all languages are supported )
- Copying the translated text to Clipboard
- Send via SMS
- Translate to a different language
Auto-detect which is present in the web version of Google translate is currently not available in Anuvadak, but the dev plans to bring this feature to the mobile version soon. The developer has claimed that Romanization is also supported in beta but for some reason it did not work on the version I tried. One other thing that caught my attention was that some languages are not properly rendered on the some devices (eg. Arabic, hindi, manadarin ,thai.. etc). According to the developer this has to do with the localized ROMs. So if your ROM supports that local language then the app should support it else it will just appear as some square.

Tested On : HTC Diamond
Pros :
- Great UI
- Listen to translation
Cons :
- The size of the text field is limited and does not allow users to paste text in to that field
Possible Improvements :
- Auto Detect would be a nice feature ( the dev has plans to include it )
