HandyPaint 1.12 – A Versatile Drawing Tool for windows phone

If creating pictures on your mobile is your thing then this is the app for you. It lets you create new images and also edit existing ones to add cool shapes to the images. Read on to find out what all you can do with it.

With HandyPaint you can use it to create your own paintings, or edit pictures taken from your device’s camera, you can even take a screenshot from your device and edit it. The app does have a lot of tools you can play around with. The tools are present on the top and you can adjust the toolbar size to suit your needs.

Colors Galore
As with any application in this genre, this one too comes with many colors that are preset and also many others that can be created by setting the RGB values. These can be added to your custom colors for future use. Unfortunately there was no option to select colors using HTML color codes. These can then be used to fill in spaces, background or for the drawing lines. These can be chosen by clicking the color button on the bottom left corner of the screen.

Drawing Tools
The app comes with a big bunch of tools to create your masterpieces with. Starting with the simple line to curves to even pentagrams can be easily drawn using the various tools. The tools are very easy to use and come with options to draw solid figures or just the outlines. Shapes like ellipses, curves, rectangles, rhombuses and pentagons are included in the shapes list. We need to just click and drag after selecting the shapes to draw the shapes in different sizes. The shape selection bar does a neat slide out while we draw so as to allow us to see the screen better. The tool also allows you to add text to the images as required. The drawing bar can also be docked on different edges of the screen based on our preferences by clicking and dragging the same. What I missed here was the ability to customize the text.


Additional Features
The app lets you save the images in bunch of different formats including GIF and JPG of different qualities. It also lets you make changes to existing bmp, jpeg, gif images by adding effects to them using the different shapes. You can also send the created images via MMS, IR or email from the app directly. There is also a full fledged help feature to help you navigate your way through the app. A few things that can be improved include transfer via bluetooth and the ability to post to Twitter and Facebook from within the app.

If you work on images on them move then this might be worth the price. The app works quite smoothly on the HTC Diamond as you can see from the video and has quite a lot of features and there are a few features that the dev can add in the next version. So to conclude this is a nice drawing / image editor app but the price tag of $14.95 might scare way most casual users.

Pros :

• Have some nice features for a smartphone app
• Very smooth graphics
• Vivid colors
• Ability to save in different formats and qualities

Cons :

• Not very finger friendly
• Its difficult to create perfectly concentric shapes and it takes a little practice
• Pricey

Possible Improvements :

• Options to change the brush types or fill types
• Social Network integration
• Change font and style for text
• Provide an indication of the center of the figure being drawn so as to maintain the concentric shapes.

   nice app but $14.99 is a bit too much for a smartphone app. Dev’s should follow iphone developers example and have apps for .99 and 1.99
